Our Lady of Solace Baseball League is a non-profit organization established
in 2002 by Our Lady of Solace Church and in conjunction with the Police Athletic
League (P.A.L) for children living in Coney Island and the surrounding area.
We register children between 5-18. Our goal is to provide an affordable
baseball league for all our children regardless of race, religion, economic stature or
where they live. We want a league were all kids play regardless of their
playing skills. We are able to do this through the help of our parents,
volunteers, coaches and our generous sponsors. We are teaching the
children not only about baseball but teamwork, respect, sportsmanship
and discipline through athletic activities. Most importantly we have
given the kids a safe and healthy activity.
The League plays on the fields in Kaiser Park, and Steeplechase Park.
All teams play on Saturdays and one day during the week except for
tee-ball and girls softball (they play on Saturdays only) Team practices
are held throughout the week.
We would like to thank all our volunteers and parents. If it wasn’t
for your support we would not be experiencing the type of growth
we have over these years. We would also like to thank
and recognize Rev. Patrick West, pastor of Our Lady of Solace
and founder of the league. If it were not for his confidence, resources and commitment
to the community the league would not exist.
